goodbye little chiQ

I received a phone call today. Not a very pleasant one. Shocking and left me speechless.

A wonderful little person whom I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with has suddenly left us.

Valerie Tay. You will be missed and I pray that a flight of angels will sing you to your peace. Godbless.

madonna and child

Liam turned 2 and his beautiful mother Lissa threw him a birthday party. Both were very happy.

closed shop

I like the tiles. They remind me of the ones on my late-grandma's bathtub that I used to play in.

A picture. Just a picture.

calling international rescue

Can anyone hear me? Is anyone out there? The battery on my phone is running flat. Does anyone have a charger that fits? Hello?

black hole

Yup, still being sucked into a void. But I refuse to disappear so easily. So, who's taking me out for coffee?

keep it turned on

Sleep. Not enough. Work. More than enough. With everything I need and have to do, I feel everything closing in. Like this red bulb. The darkness tries to dampen my light but as small as it glows, it keeps glowing. That, my dear friend, is the magic of tungsten.

beg your pardon?

What do you mean 'Model Pussy'? What was going on in the head of the window display artist when this combo was put together? Ladies, would you wear a boob tube that said 'Pussy' on your chest? Just because it's done in sequins doesn't make it any cuter or bling-er.

I have base thoughts.

blue skies smiling at me

Last night was great. Good food, good friends and a bottle or two to wash down a yummy homemade dinner.Woke up wishing the sky was clear and bright like the shot above. Alas, it's humid and it's raining. Still it's Sunday. A good day.

speed of night

Time really flew past for me these past 2 weeks. Before I could finish one thing, another demanded my attention. And another, and another. Handling it all in my stride despite having to handle it with a couple of people who have no sense of time. Not complaining though. The work is getting done. That is it.

turchid or orckey

This is a close up of an orchid's testis. Looks like a turkey, doesn't it? Or a hawk maybe. What do you see?

your face is your fortune

It's just come to my attention that I've not posted a portrait shot in this blog. Of all the 'specialist' areas of photography, portraits I really like. Some say I should 'specialize.' Until I decide to save the world, I'll just stay a hobbyist. Questions may need to be answered but not all of them. A hmm is more appealing than a full stop. Don't you agree?

feeling blue

This is a government building. My dad used to work here before he was courted away to the private sector. The building itself isn't much to look at. But looking at it from different perspectives... Kinda like people and situations I guess.

in the garden

Tiny little water droplets resting on a tiny little fallen petal basking on a rock.

molten

Found my lava lamp and plugged it in. I took a couple of shots because I wanted to see how the lamp would translate into B&W.

i'm heeled

Recently did a catalogue shoot for a shoe company. After sifting out the best from the rest, I handed it in and saved a couple for myself. I'm posting this after seeing the prototype catalogue. It's not in there so I've put it in here. Not a spectacular picture but it's fun.

playing footies

A pair of these feet have appeared on this blog previously and now they return with a foot of a companion. It's good to have someone to laugh and play with. As much as I love staying home with my mother and my 3 dogs, I really enjoy it when a couple of friends and me get together. We say some crazy funny things, constantly bitch about each other, behave like teenagers and when the next day comes, we get back to the responsibilties of adulthood. I guess our feet, whether in shadow or light, will always travel the same path.

macro=micro

Lately I've spent most my time with my macro and extra wide-angle lenses. Each one is a gem to use though I'm lean more towards the macro sight of things. Here's one to add to the flora shots of the world. I actually noticed ants on the stem and petals and wanted to shoot them but when I got my camera, they disappeared. Doesn't matter. Their absense gave me this clean shot. I really like it. Any guesses what flower this is?

pollen

Pollen, the dust of life. I'm so thankful I don't sneeze buckets or suffer from hayfever. This gives me the opportunity of getting very close to the center of a flower, which I think is the more fascinating part. Why? Cos I want to know how the birds and bees do it. I want to know what the attraction is. Now I do.

over the shoulder

Over the shoulder: that's how I took this shot. I was having a cuppa in Menotti, my fave café in S'pore. I took my camera from my bag and rested it on my manly broad shoulders and snapped. I love the lines and effect of the lights and mirror. Can you see my reflection?
